Flathead Valley Community College will host free workshops in Kalispell to help college-bound students and their families complete the necessary forms to apply for federal financial aid, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). “The Foreigner” is set in a fishing lodge in rural Georgia where a couple of travelers from England find themselves face-to-face with both the best and the worst America has to offer. Based on what the New York Post describes as a “devilishly clever idea,” the play demonstrates what can happen when a group of devious characters must deal with a stranger who knows no English, or so the group thinks.

Nov 2    FVCC Theatre Presents "Shades of Orcus"
“The Shades of Orcus” tells the story of Dr. Thom Warren, an art critic widely scorned for his published reviews on poignant suicides. Dealing with insomnia and professional conflict, his world is upended when a vivacious and quixotic young woman, Lily, comes to his office and convinces him to help her stage her death. What follows is a hellish weekend where the essence of beauty, the failures of philosophy, and the human bonds of solidarity become the subjects of new scrutiny. Tickets for “The Shades of Orcus” are available at the FVCC Bookstore, online at www.fvcc.edu or at the box office prior to each evening’s performance. Prices are $10 general admission, $5 for seniors and free for all students. The play is recommended for mature audiences only.

Nov 3    Book Reading "100 Days of Solitude"
FVCC’s Theatre & Communications departments will host a book reading by fire lookout, humanities professor and author Amy Pearson on November 3. Pearson will read from her book, “100 Days of Solitude” as theatre students perform accompanying scenes. Pearson’s book is an account of her time serving as a lone fire lookout on Jumbo Mountain in the Bob Marshall Wilderness during the summer of 2015.

Nov 13    U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Tour
"People's Tree" will make the cross-country journey from Montana to Washington D.C.  
Every year, a different National Forest is selected to provide a tree to appear on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol for the Christmas Season.  The Kootenai National Forest in partnership with the nonprofit Choose Outdoors will bring this special gift from Montana to Washington, D.C. for the 2017 season, involving more than 15 communities along the way including an appearance in Whitefish!

Members of the Whitefish Community Center will hold their 3rd Annual Fall and Holiday Bazaar !  The center will be filled with vendors selling homemade crafts, books, and holiday items.  There will be attic treasures for men and women, glassware and custom made jewelry for sale.  The local Montana Coffee Traders will offer free coffee samples at their table, and cookies will be complimentary.  Bring a friend;  better yet, a group of friends!  Gifts for all ages!  If you're interested in displaying a table, the cost for one is $15 or two for $25.  Call Kathy or Kim at 406-862-4923 to reserve your space.

The Purple Pomegranate is once again sponsoring a Christmas Window decorating contest for merchants in Whitefish!  There will be a judged contest the week of December 4th thru the 8th!  The winner of the contest will recieve a trophy that they can keep for the entire year.  The trophy passes from winning business to business each year.  Each winner is commemorated on the trophy with the year that their business won.  If your business would like to participate, please contact the Chamber!  There is no fee to enter!
