| Feb 1 - Feb 2 Snow Sculpture Showcase |
| The City of Whitefish, in partnership with Whitefish Winter Carnival, is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Snow Sculpture Showcase planned for the weekend of Winter Carnival, February 1st and 2nd, 2019. In the spirit of mutual support and cooperation, the City is calling for teams to come together to create a snow sculpture garden in Depot Park. The theme for the symposium will mimic the Winter Carnival theme: “Woodstock Whitefish.” This theme does not limit artists and their creative possibilities, but gives a good starting point on what could be put to life. Starting February 1st at 8:00 a.m., teams will start work on their sculptures, with a goal of completing them by 2:00p.m. on Saturday, February 2nd. The community will be given a chance to vote on their favorite sculptures during the parade from 2:00p.m.- 4:00p.m. Cash awards will be presented to both advanced and novice categories. The deadline to register is Friday, January 18th by 5:00 p.m. Teams will be notified of acceptance in the showcase on Monday, January 22nd. Registration is free and more detailed information and registration forms can be found at http://www.cityofwhitefish.org/parks-and-recreation/staff-and-news.php. Teams can also sign up through the Winter Carnival Art Expo hosted by Climate Smart Glacier Country. To inspire and empower the next generation of innovators, ImagineIF Libraries, Flathead Valley Community College, Kalispell Chamber of Commerce, Job Service Kalispell and Montana West Economic Development have joined forces to offer Making Montana, a two-day event featuring a Manufacturing and Technology Expo alongside the annual Kalispell Mini Maker Faire. The event will be at the Flathead County Fairgrounds February 15th-16th, 2019.
Saturday, February 16th, the Kalispell Mini Maker Faire will showcase the amazing work of all kinds of makers, people who embrace the do-it-yourself spirit and want to share their creations with an appreciative audience. Exhibits will be interactive and highlight the process of making things.
