The Lakeside Community Club will be hosting our 31st Annual Fair in July. In order to make the event as successful as possible we need donations from the community. Will you please share with your church email group the attached flyer? We are asking for donations of clean and gently used home décor, small electronics, glass ware, crystal, cookware, kitchen appliances, garden tools, crafts, linens and camping equipment. All donations can be dropped off at the Lakeside Elementary School, 255 Adams Street, Monday – Friday 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The club will be accepting donations until July 6th, excluding July 3rd. We will also have large furniture and other treasures for sale on the Lakeside Community Club Website! For donations of large furniture please contact Mary Dixon, 831-234-9202. Check daily for these special items: www.lakesidecommclub.com As you may know, 100% of the money raised at the event goes back into the community to support the local Non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations.

July 4 display cancelled due to COVID concerns
'Pulling the plug' on Fireworks 2020
After working for more than a month to try and save our community's Independence Day Fireworks Show, Chamber officials on Wednesday officially "pulled the plug" on this year's event.
"This is the last thing we wanted to do," said Chamber Executive Director Kevin Gartland, "and I apologize to our residents -- and visitors -- that we couldn't get it done."
City and County officials late last month determined that the event -- which typically attracts 3-4,000 people to Whitefish City Beach -- couldn't be held safely, as COVID-19 "social distancing" guidelines would be impossible to enforce.
'Alternate locations' eliminated ... one by one
Not willing to give-up on the event, the Chamber identified three different alternate locations for the show, and worked with the City-County Health Department to come-up with a plan for safely staging the event. But one-by-one those locations were eliminated, as one hurdle after another presented itself.
"Johnny Shockey was ready to let us do a "drive-in theater" style fireworks show at his Big Mountain Ranch," Gartland said. "Then we found out that the pasture can't be hayed until a week or two after the Fourth, so that was out.
"Our last -- and best -- option was Smith Fields (by North Valley Hospital)," he added, "and we actually had a plan OK'd by the county, the Police Department and the hospital to do the show. Unfortunately, several big dollar donors didn't like the idea, and opted not to support the show unless it was held on Whitefish Lake."
Gartland thanked City and County officials for their assistance in trying to keep the community's longstanding July 4 tradition alive, and pledged that the event will be back in 2021, "bigger and better than ever."

Challenge yourself and your friends and family to run or hike the 3.8 mile the Danny On Trail to the summit of Big Mountain, between July 26th and August 1. Register and report your results through runsignup.com. As usual, runners will compete for the titles of King and Queen and Prince and Princess of the Mountain and win awesome hand painted plates. Ribbons too for the under 16 crew. Sorry no dogs awards this year. All runners finishing the course in a time less than their age (women - age plus 10 minutes) qualify for the Birthday Club and receive the coveted asterisk by your name. The cost is $20 per individual, $55 per family, $10 Juniors (16 and under). .The proceeds benefit the non-profit Glacier Nordic Ski Team’s youth programs. Swag give-away for registered runners.
