Nov 4    Live Music at The Firebrand Restaurant featuring John Dunnigan
Be entertained by local legend John Dunnigan in the Boat Club. If Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor and John Prine were joined together in some bizarre musical cloning experiment, the outcome would be John Dunnigan. This "offbeat" musician and entertainer took the backroads to Montana over three decades ago and never left (he's no fool). His original, often hilarious songs make you think, laugh, sing along and raise your glass in a toast to life. In short, he can put a smile on your face.

Nov 5    MET OPERA in HD show "La Traviata" in Whitefish at the O'Shaughnessy Center
In collaboration with the Whitefish Arts Council (WAC), the Whitefish Performing Arts Center (PAC), and the Whitefish Theatre Company (WTC), the 2022-2023 live streaming season of the Metropolitan Opera returns to Whitefish! La Traviata, the first of 10 live-on-screen performances, will be held at the O'Shaughnessy Center.

With its intimate scope, La Traviata (The Fallen Woman), sung in Italian, features Guiseppe Verdi’s most profound and heartfelt music. Described for us beginners as “Pretty Woman meets La Boheme”, the story follows a high-priced courtesan who is forced to give up the only man she ever loved. The opera has captured the imaginations of audiences and performers alike with its challenging vocal and dramatic possibilities.

Run time is 3 hours, including two 20-30 minute intermissions. The show begins at 10:55am sharp with doors to the O'Shaughnessy Center opening at 10:30am. Beverages, sandwiches and other food items will be available for purchase.

The opera will have subtitles. Take a chance on the wonderful world of opera this season and check out a show - or two - or ten!

Nov 10    Whitefish Theatre Company presents Belgian folk quintet WÖR
FOLK WITH A BELGIAN ATTITUDE!

Back to the 1780's! If it sounded good back then, why not today? Almost 300 years ago, some musicians from around Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent and Leuven decided to write down their favorite music. As time passed, however, the paper turned yellow, the ink began to fade, and the music itself was left to gather dust along with the faded manuscripts. That is, until now! With their finely textured arrangements, WÖR injects new energy into 18th-century melodies from the Flanders region of Belgium. Their music shines an inventive spotlight, with a modern twist, on the melodies in these manuscripts. All members are astonishing musicians, coaxing fantastic sounds from their saxophones, violin, bagpipes, accordion and guitar. Get ready to be surprised!

What is a Farm-to-Table Dinner?
The farm-to-table movement is about bringing locally grown, fresh vegetables, fruits, dairy, and meats to households and restaurants by eliminating long-distance transport of food items. Along with the benefits eating locally can bring to the environment, it is also a great way to support growers in our region, who are quite often our neighbors.

Nov 11    Warren Miller's Daymaker
Brought to you by Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation

How's it going? Ask us again tomorrow, because today's answer will change soon enough. Except, the mountains have seen this all before. And when you stand on top of one, it's awfully tough to make out whatever you left below.
From Alaska to Greece and beyond, our 73rd annual ski and snowboard film, Daymaker, will replace the mountains in your mind with ones that free your mind. Join Crazy Karl Fostvedt, Michelle Parker, Katie Burrell, Hana Beaman, Daron Rahlves, Ryland Bell, Cam Fitzpatrick, Connery Lundin and more on the hill, and you can't really have a bad day.

British Columbia's Monashees? Yes. The literal throne of the gods in Greece's Olympus Mountains?  Yep.  Alaska?  Twice. We hit Snowmass for the biggest party of the winter and surprise a Warren Miller superfan at the base of Snowbasin for a day skiing with Jonny Moseley and Marcus Caston. We follow one of Europe's most legendary mountain guides, rewrite the rules of adaptive backcountry riding, and try to keep up with some of the most exciting you skiers and snowboarders on the planet.
So, how's it going?  Now that you mention it, thinking about winter kinda made our day!

Nov 17    Birth Prep Workshop

Birthing is one of the most athletic events most women will experience in their lifetime and showing up unprepared can often lead to undesirable outcomes.

Knowledge is power and it is one of my goals to help empower women through their pregnancy to avoid unnecessary intervention and achieve the birth they desire. Having knowledge about how the baby moves through the pelvis and how mama can move throughout labor to assist baby can reduce pain and labor times.

Working proactively during pregnancy on pelvic and pelvic floor balance can make pregnancy more comfortable and enjoyable and birth less painful and lengthy.

Join me for this workshop to help prepare you for your upcoming birth!

Taught by local Mama, Chiropractor, and BIRTHFIT Leader Kailey Armor.

Medea, the first of 10 live-on-screen performances, will be held at the O'Shaughnessy Center.

Medea, a king’s daughter who possesses magical powers, falls in love and bears two sons with Thessalian prince Jason, bolstering his ambitions to seize the powerful Golden Fleece. However, when Medea is betrayed and ultimately spurned when Jason marries another, her horrifying act of vengeance destroys everything – and everyone – that binds them. Nov 19    Live Music at The Boat Club Bar featuring John Dunnigan

Nov 19    Whitefish Theatre Company presents "Church and State" (Black Curtain production)
No Senators Were Harmed In the Making of this Play
Three days before his bid for re-election – and in the wake of another school shooting - U.S. Senator Charles Whitmore has a life-altering crisis of faith, triggering an off-the-cuff comment to a Twitter-savvy blogger that sends his entire campaign into a tailspin. The Senator's devout wife and liberal campaign manager try desperately to contain the damage, but in a country where religion influences politics and politics have become a religion, how do you reach the people and stay true to yourself? A timely and fast-paced story that was nominated for Best New Play in 2017, Church and State is simultaneously funny, heartbreaking, and uplifting.

“A crackling script. Feels very of the moment. An enjoyable, thought-provoking and, I promise, humorous piece of theatre. I wish every member of Congress would see it!” —NPR.

Reminder that as a Black Curtain - or reader's theatre - production, there is no set, no costumes, and actors will be reading from their scripts.

Nov 26    Live Music at The Boat Club Bar featuring John Dunnigan
Be entertained by local legend John Dunnigan in the Boat Club. If Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor and John Prine were joined together in some bizarre musical cloning experiment, the outcome would be John Dunnigan. This "offbeat" musician and entertainer took the backroads to Montana over three decades ago and never left (he's no fool). His original, often hilarious songs make you think, laugh, sing along and raise your glass in a toast to life. In short, he can put a smile on your face.
