Apr 1    Live Music at The Boat Club Bar featuring John Dunnigan

Be entertained by local legend John Dunnigan in the Boat Club.

If Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor and John Prine were joined together in some bizarre musical cloning experiment, the outcome would be John Dunnigan. His original, often hilarious songs make you think, laugh, sing along and raise your glass in a toast to life. In short, he can put a smile on your face.

Apr 6    Market Validation: Guidance and Support Services for Entrepreneurs
WHY DO I NEED MARKET VALIDATION?
20% of startups do not progress beyond the first year and an astounding 60% collapse within their first three years.
Why?Entrepreneurs overlook the need to validate market needs and often develop products or services for which there is no market demand. Market Validation is a process of challenging assumptions, such as:
-What is the problem(s) that the customer needs solving?
- How big is the problem; where does it occur; and how frequently?
-Who is currently looking for a solution to the problem and how much are they willing to pay to solve it?
-How does your solution address the customer-identified problems
-Where does the new technology fall short of satisfying customer needs?
-Why hasn’t this problem been solved already?
-What are the current and future barriers that will prohibit the use or implementation of the new technology to solve the problem?

WHAT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE?
MWED and MMEC are partnering to host a luncheon-class that will guide entrepreneurs and product managers through the process of Market Validation. MMEC Business Advisors leverage their expertise in market research, data analysis, and new product development to inform client-specific ventures with powerful and actionable insights.

HOW WILL MY COMPANY BENEFIT?
Market validation demonstrates that you are not only reducing your risk of failure, but reducing risks for your investors as well. Investors will therefore want to see evidence of market validation in your business plan. Without it they may assume your product or service is not commercially promising. Every decision your business makes should be well-founded with data and research. Underestimating the value of market validation will unnecessarily increase your risk and unsettle investors.

Apr 6 - Apr 8    Whitefish Theatre Company presents "Evelyn In Purgatory"
The Breakfast Club for teachers! Presented in cabaret style!!

When a complaint is filed against one of the 70,000 teachers in New York’s public schools, they are sent to a Reassignment Center, an empty office in the Department of Education Building. They must wait for their case to be reviewed, usually for months. Sometimes for over a year. A claim of improper behavior by a failing student lands Evelyn Reid in “the rubber room,” where she encounters a group of teachers, some guilty, some not, who have long since lost any hope of returning to a classroom. Over the course of the school year, these colleagues learn French, workshop a screenplay, and ultimately form an unlikely alliance, reminding each other of forgotten passions, emerging to face life outside in unexpected new directions. A poignant and funny drama, Evelyn In Purgatory is “an uncommonly smart and restrained commentary on the public education system.”

Apr 8    Midori: World Virtuoso Violinist

Legendary and world-renowned violinist, Midori, joins the Glacier Symphony for a performance of the mystifying Violin Concerto in d minor by Robert Schumann. Grab your tickets to witness her artistry, professionalism, and rich talent. Do not miss your chance to see her present a lifetime of talent - her contemporaries include Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman. To put it simply, Midori is a BIG DEAL in classical music!!! ??

Also in the program, Glacier Symphony will play two of Respighi's evocative orchestral portraits, the Fountains and Pines of Rome, which will instantly transport you to Italy's capital in the romantic era. This will be Midori's only appearance in the entire region so don't miss this rare opportunity to see one of the greatest violinists of our lifetime.

We would like to share a little about Midori and her legendary career. Midori was born in Japan in 1971. Her mother was a professional violinist and she showed interest in the instrument from an early age. She was gifted a violin for her 3rd birthday and her mother began giving her lessons at that time. Midori would make her professional debut with the New York Philharmonic when she was just 11 years old!

Since then, she has toured the globe and is one of the most famed violinists alive today. She founded Midori & Friends in 1992, which helps bring music education to thousands of underprivileged children in the United States and Japan. As a UN Messenger of Peace, Midori has shared music with children in countries all over the world. In 2021, she was a Kennedy Center Honors honoree for her lifetime artistic achievement. It is truly an accomplishment to bring in an artist of this caliber for our patrons in the Flathead Valley to enjoy! Before Midori stops in the valley, she will have been traveling around Europe at famous symphonies and philharmonics!

We encourage you to keep learning more about Midori by watching these videos about her personal and professional accomplishments!!

Apr 15    Owls of the Flathead Valley- Glacier Institute
This course will provide a thorough introduction to the ecology and identification of the owls of the Flathead Valley.  Since we humans are mostly diurnal and many owls are nocturnal, they have a reputation of being “secretive”. Montana boasts the largest number (15) of breeding owl species of any state in the nation.  The Flathead Valley provides habitat for approximately 12 of these species, but 3 species are extremely uncommon.  By the end of the course, you should be able to correctly identify NW Montana owls, understand their adaptations, life histories and overall ecology.  In addition, students will have a grasp on some owl research techniques that will help you locate owls on your own.

Apr 15    The MET LIVE in HD: "Der Rosenkavalier" " at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center
“Der Rosenkavalier”, or “The Knight of the Rose”, has been called Richard Strauss’s most popular and lushest German opera. The story concerns wise woman Marschallin and her much younger lover Octavian. Ultimately forced to accept the laws of time, Marschallin must give up Octavian to a pretty young heiress, all amidst waltzes, fantastic arias, humor, and a darker social commentary that simmers beneath all that Viennese charm. “Der Rosenkavalier” has been called a “whipped cream-covered, liqueur-soaked confection emerging as the glorious piece of escapism its creators always intended.”

Food and drink available for purchase during two 30 minute intermissions.

CHAMPION – An Opera In Jazz

Six-time Grammy Award–winning composer Terence Blanchard brings his first opera to the Met. A groundbreaking work combining the disciplines of opera and jazz, Champion tells the real-life story of world champion boxer Emile Griffith, a man haunted by memories of his past who struggled to reconcile his sexuality in a hyper-macho world. Champion’s visually stunning production and soulful score illuminates Griffith’s triumphs and struggles that are still powerfully relevant today.

Apr 29    Live Music at The Boat Club Bar featuring John Dunnigan

Be entertained by local legend John Dunnigan in the Boat Club.

If Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor and John Prine were joined together in some bizarre musical cloning experiment, the outcome would be John Dunnigan. This "offbeat" musician and entertainer took the backroads to Montana over three decades ago and never left (he's no fool). His original, often hilarious songs make you think, laugh, sing along and raise your glass in a toast to life. In short, he can put a smile on your face.
