Intermountain is a non-profit agency that has been impacting the lives of children and families for over 100 years and we are currently looking for a Mental Health Support School Support I for our Whitefish Day Treatment Program.

    Overview:

    Intermountain’s Whitefish Day Treatment serves children grades Kindergarten through 4th that have a high level of emotional needs in combination with behavioral disorders which have impeded their successful functioning making them difficult to manage in their home, school and community.  The purpose is to work collaboratively with families, schools and communities to support the child in the most normative home and school environment possible.  This is accomplished through relationships that are formed in the classroom and psychotherapy settings.  The programs goal is to prevent children and their families from moving into more restrictive and expensive levels of care and to collaboratively support and empower them toward increased social integration, normative functioning and self-sufficiency.

    Rooted in a 30 year history of success with a developmental relational approach, Intermountain’s Day Treatment provides a trusted option in Montana’s beautiful Flathead Valley near Glacier National Park.

    Some of the challenges our clients may have are:

    • Emotional dysregulation
    • Depression
    • Anxiety
    • Intractable anger
    • Adoption issues
    • Attachment and relationship issues
    • ADD, ADHD
    • PTSD
    • Impulsivity, including lying and stealing
    • Oppositionality and/or defiance
    • Aggression towards self and others
    • School problems
    • Loss and grief issues
    • Poor social skills, and social development
    • High functioning Autistic Spectrum Disorder
    • Peer relationships

    Summary:

    Mental Health School Support I (MHSSI) provides a variety of professional direct care services to children and families with direction, support and training from the Residential Education team. MHSSI participates in the creation and maintenance of a therapeutic milieu according to each child's treatment plan and agency philosophy. The MHSSI implements basic therapeutic interventions and develops relationships with all the children under the guidance of the Residential Education team and clinical direction of the Residential Therapist. The role is responsible for providing quality care and treatment to children and responds sensitively and proactively to the individual treatment and educational needs of the children.

    The above knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through:

    • Two (2) years related work experience.
    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in a Social Science or closely-related field is preferred.
    • Requires a valid Montana driver’s license.

    Position is part-time to possibly full-time.  Salary DOE; Starting Wage: $12.92 per hour.
