DESCRIPTION:We're honored to host local Whitefish artist Rob Akey in our gallery for a solo show in October! Local Color opens on Thursday\, October 5th in conjunction with the final Whitefish Gallery Night of 2023--you won't want to miss it!\n\nRob Akey's representational work embraces the rawness of the Western aesthetic alongside the transitory nature of American Impressionism. Each painting reflects the love he has for Montana! Born to a third generation Whitefish family in 1956\, he displayed an early propensity for drawing and painting. After being mentored by artist Bob McKinney\, he went on to complete a degree in Design and Illustration from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. In the fall of 2005\, after a lifetime of honing his skills and refining his work\, Rob achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a full-time artist.
