The 2012 festival drew 4\,200 participants and spectators and was named the Montana Tourism Event of the Year.\n\nThe ancient sport of dragon boat racing traces its roots to China\, where teams of 20 paddlers\, a drummer and steersman race in colorful\, 46-foot dragon boats.
