     As winter winds down and we begin gearing-up for summer in the Flathead, the folks at Glacier National Park are busy, too … preparing not just for the 2019 summer season, but for a number of maintenance and planning projects that are critical to the park’s operation, both now and in the future.
 
     Park Superintendent Jeff Mow will be the featured speaker at the Whitefish Chamber’s May 9 “Business Breakfast” meeting at the Moose Lodge, to talk about the many different programs, projects and planning efforts that are on the horizon for Glacier this year, as well as the Park’s efforts to accommodate the record-setting crowds that are expected to once again descend on the Park this summer.
 
     Among the topics that are on the agenda:

• Pavement Preservation Projects, and the effect that’ll have on hiker/biker access during the spring season;
• Closures to North McDonald Lake Road;
• An update on restoration work at the Sperry Chalet;
• Anticipated lake openings at Two medicine and other east side and back country facilities;
• Tips for planning an enjoyable outing in Glacier during the peak summer months.
