May 2    Kallie Audet Opening Reception at Cawdrey Gallery

Cawdrey Gallery is featuring Helena-based painter Kallie Audet for the month of May. Opening reception will be during Whitefish Gallery Nights.

On Thursdays throughout the year, the art community of Whitefish comes together to host an evening of featured artist exhibitions, entertainment, and light refreshments. Join us in celebrating our art community through Whitefish Gallery Nights!

Born and raised in north central Montana, Kallie Audet loved to draw and paint as a child and decided at an early age that she would one day pursue a career in art. Kallie was mostly self-taught, but thankful for her degree in art from Montana State University in Bozeman.

After years in the education field, Kallie is presently focusing on creating her drawings and paintings. Influenced by many years of painting strictly in watercolor, Kallie now works primarily in oils.

Her oil paintings are impressionistic and vibrant. Her painterly landscapes are rich and striking depictions of scenic Montana. Kallie has most recently been creating oil paintings inspired by native Montana wildlife. She favors painting the animals she sees on a regular basis around her home which overlooks the beautiful Helena, Montana valley.

May 3    Live Music at The Firebrand Restaurant featuring John Dunnigan

Be entertained by local legend John Dunnigan. If Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor and John Prine were joined together in some bizarre musical cloning experiment, the outcome would be John Dunnigan. His original, often hilarious songs make you think, laugh, sing along and raise your glass in a toast to life. In short, he can put a smile on your face.

May 8    My Glacier Village Coffee & Conversations

MY GLACIER VILLAGE HOSTS COFFEE & CONVERSATIONS

MAY 8 AT WILD COFFEE IN WHITEFISH

My Glacier Village is helping area seniors make their plan about where and how they want to age, and subsequently, implement it. The organization serves area seniors, many who are opting to age in their own homes. Founded in 2019, our local Village was literally created BY seniors, FOR seniors, who want to stay active and engaged in their lives and know they can rely on each other when they need a little help.

My Glacier Village is a local chapter of the nationwide Village-to-Village Network that began on the east coast in 2002. It was led by a group of seniors who had watched their own parents age and did not want to be limited or marginalized as their parents were. They created the concept of neighbors helping neighbors as they aged.

Statistically, our society is rapidly aging in America, and people are living longer than ever.  Ten thousand Americans are turning 65 every day, and by 2030, baby boomers and older are on track to outnumber youth for the first time in history. Society is not ready!  My Glacier Village is striving to change the conversations around aging!

Please come join My Glacier Village at Wild Coffee in Whitefish on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 9:30 - 11:00 for some lively conversations about aging in the Flathead valley. Our special topic of conversation on the day will be SOLO SENIORS.

At Brash Rodeo, we offer an opportunity to go behind the chutes where the cowboys and cowgirls get ready to go up against some of the country's finest four legged athletes. You will see wild untamed action in an unprecedented way. Enjoy the entire show from the top of the bucking chutes or spend part of your time with us and the rest in the bleachers, it's your choice. We need to let you know that behind the chutes you will be exposed to both livestock and contestants, manure and colorful language are both good possibilities. You will gain access to the back pens and have a chance to meet cowboys and cowgirls as they prepare for the rodeo. Please dress in your best rodeo attire. Boots or closed toed shoes are preferred as manure is difficult to clean from the inside of sandals. Tickets are limited to only 8, so get them while you can!

May 29    Glacier Book Club: Ranger Confidential

Join Executive Director Doug Mitchell on Zoom and have a discussion with author Andrea Lankford about her book, Ranger Confidential.

Register for free at: https://glacier.org/glacier-book-club/

About The Book:

For twelve years, Andrea Lankford lived in the biggest, most impressive national parks in the world, working a job she loved. She chaperoned baby sea turtles on their journey to sea. She pursued bad guys on her galloping patrol horse. She jumped into rescue helicopters bound for the heart of the Grand Canyon. She won arguments with bears. She slept with a few too many rattlesnakes.

Ranger Confidential is the story behind the scenery of the nation’s crown jewels—Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Great Smokies, Denali. In these iconic landscapes, where nature and humanity constantly collide, scenery can be as cruel as it is redemptive.

Tickets are limited, so get them while you can!

This outdoor concert is the perfect way to unwind and enjoy great tunes in a beautiful setting with our Clydesdales. Don't miss out on this opportunity to experience live music at Clydesdale Outpost for the community. See you there!

Donation-based (Free) Community Outdoor Concert - Suggested $10 donation to artist.
Welcome center will be open for grab-and-go snacks.

Imaginary astronaut and singer-songwriter Mike Vitale has decided to punch holes in his own analogy to create stars as a backdrop for his latest inner-space journey DESERT DOGS—an album he is foolishly releasing, one single at a time, throughout 2023 and early 2024, in order to continually inundate both suspecting and unsuspecting bystanders with troubadourian exploits of waxing and waning pandemic meanderings, mental flatulence, stories—what have yous—carefully laid over predetermined blocks of music. What am I trying to say in third-person? Witness this monkey, playing music he wrote, with his imagination. Can I get a witness?

Mike Vitale is a singer-songwriter based out of Los Angeles, CA. He is currently out touring the United States in support of a full length album called φ: 12 new songs written by Vitale over the course of the past several years, as well as 11 new singles he is releasing over the course of 2023, that will eventually lead to a complete 12 song album called DESERT DOGS.

Jul 4    4th of July Festivities & Fireworks over Whitefish Lake - 2024
July 4th at Whitefish City Beach

Whitefish, MT- The City of Whitefish Parks and Recreation is preparing for another fun-filled 4th of July celebration at Whitefish City Beach with fireworks and food vendors to celebrate the occasion.

There will be numerous vendors at Whitefish City Beach on July 4th including shaved ice, mini-doughnuts, ice cream, corndogs, and barbecue. Vendors will open in the early evening and stay open until the fireworks start.
The Parks and Recreation Department would like to remind the beach patrons that the main City Beach parking lot will be closed to allow vendors to set up. Parking will be limited all day in and around City Beach.
Traffic control will be set up by 7:00 p.m. on roads surrounding the beach area. The boat launch at City Beach as well as the Prevention and Decontamination Station will close at 7:00 p.m. Decontamination must be performed prior to launching in Whitefish Lake for watercraft that have ballast tanks or bags. The boat launch at Whitefish Lake State Park will close at 9:00 p.m.

The fireworks, presented by the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce, will begin around 10:30 pm and will last approximately 30 minutes.
The City of Whitefish is encouraging everyone to walk or bike to the beach to help alleviate parking and traffic congestion. The Chamber of Commerce is offering a shuttle, compliments of Rocky Mountain Transportation, from the O’Shaughnessy Center to City Beach from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Please remember that the rules of City Beach still apply during the 4th of July festivities. No dogs are allowed at City Beach in both the beach and park areas. No personal fireworks, alcohol, or glass containers are allowed. Please help us to keep the beach clean and pick up your trash before heading home for the evening. Call the Whitefish Parks and Recreation Department with any questions at 863-2470. Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Recognized by the New York Times as one of America's Top-10 Fireworks Displays, the Whitefish Chamber's annual 4th of July spectacular is launched from a floating barge some 300-feet off the shore of Whitefish City Beach, on beautiful Whitefish Lake!

The fireworks display begins at dusk (appx 10:30 p.m.), but City Beach will be bustling all day long with pre-fireworks activity including kayak and paddleboard rentals, a variety of food and snack vendors, and plenty of space to spread-out and relax.

Each year the Chamber looks to our business and philanthropic communities to help fund the show, as well as the insurance, ads, promotion, downtown shuttle busses and other related expenses, which total more than $20,000. Your contribution to the effort is much appreciated … thank you for helping to keep our community’s 4th of July tradition alive!   Click <here> to donate.

Tickets are limited, so get them while you can!

Here in Montana, we understand that not everyone has been exposed to the cowboy way of life that is part of our heritage. Tickets are limited, so get them while you can!
