We are so excited to host local artist Donald Yatomi in our Whitefish Gallery with 18 new paintings of local spaces in the Flathead Valley! Donald’s personal origin was littered with the grit of poverty in a low-income part of Honolulu, and it is for this reason that he is drawn to uncelebrated spaces. Compositional and formal rules are present yet discreet in his work, blended into an unorthodox color palette, functioning as a familiar hook waiting for the observer.

Join us for an artist reception celebrating the opening of Rediscovered Routines in conjunction with Whitefish Gallery Nights on Thursday, August 7th from 5-8pm for refreshments and an evening with the artist!

WCC is excited to welcome TAJ MAHAL to the Flathead Valley.  Taj Mahal doesn't wait for permission. If a sound intrigues him, he sets out to make it. If origins mystify him, he moves to trace them. If rules get in his way, he unapologetically breaks them. To Taj, convention means nothing, but traditions are holy. He has pushed music and culture forward, all while looking lovingly back. "I just want to be able to make the music that I'm hearing come to me — and that's what I did," Taj says. The 82-year-old is home in Berkeley, reflecting on six + decades of music making. "When I say, 'I did,' I'm not coming from the ego. The music comes from somewhere. You're just the conduit it comes through. You're there to receive the gift."

Taj is a towering musical figure — a legend who transcended the blues not by leaving them behind, but by revealing their magnificent scope to the world. "The blues is bigger than most people think," he says. "You could hear Mozart play the blues. It might be more like a lament. It might be more melancholy. But I'm going to tell you: the blues is in there." If anyone knows where to find the blues, it's Taj. A brilliant artist with a musicologist's mind, he has pursued and elevated the roots of beloved sounds with boundless devotion and skill. Then, as he traced origins to the American South, the Caribbean, Africa, and elsewhere, he created entirely new sounds, over and over again. As a result, he's not only a god to rock-and-roll icons such as Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones, but also a hero to ambitious artists toiling in obscurity who are determined to combine sounds that have heretofore been ostracized from one another. No one is as simultaneously traditional and avant-garde. Quantifying Taj's significance is impossible, but people try anyway.

Montana Singer/Songwriter, Kelly Diane, was born and raised in Amish country Ohio, but uprooted and moved to Northwest Montana in search of a better life.

Her classical training mixed with her love of Folk and Irish music, have blended into a unique style of their own. Using a very personal and emotional form of writing that stems from unique life experiences, she weaves together stories and sentiments which are usually birthed deep in the wild mountains of MT.

The Spooklights (formerly MK Ultra)

Banjos and synthesizers... dulcimers and wubs... strange flashing lights... unexplained phenomena.

The Spooklights is a collaboration between Ben Miller and Pat Kay, two renowned torchbearers of the Ozark mountain music tradition who have taken their talents into a new dimension. During the lockdown, they traded keys to each other’s bunkers of busted toys and forlorn experiments, soldering together electronic music and their trademark “Ozark Stomp Grass.”

What emerged is a jangle-stomp time machine exploring hillbilly music from a distant future. Expect homemade gear, fringe ideas, and a journey that’s “only weird the first time.” Hop in, y’all.

The Sponges have become well known for their unmistakable signature sound in dance music. Their combination of tasteful ‘70s funk and disco samples, psychedelic sound design, heavy basslines, and four-on-the-floor house rhythms can instantly be recognized as one of The Sponges’ finely tuned productions.

Pinky and the Floyd will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic album "Wish You Were Here" with a series of can't-miss performances in Fall of 2025. These shows will hold a particularly special weight for the band and their fans as they mark their first performances following the recent passing of their beloved keyboardist (and founding member), Joe Kirchner. While his absence will be deeply felt, the band is dedicated to honoring his memory by bringing the timeless music of Pink Floyd to the stage with the passion and artistry that Joe himself embodied.

"Wish You Were Here," released in 1975, holds a significant place in Pink Floyd's history as the follow-up to their groundbreaking album, "The Dark Side of the Moon." More than just a successor, "Wish You Were Here" served as a poignant tribute to the band's founding member, Syd Barrett, whose struggles with mental health led to his departure. The album's themes of absence, alienation, and the pressures of the music industry resonate deeply, making this 50th-anniversary celebration a particularly meaningful moment to reflect on how these themes remain powerfully relevant in today's world.

Prepare to be transported as Pinky and the Floyd deliver "Wish You Were Here" in its full glory, artfully blending each track with a selection of other cherished gems from the vast Pink Floyd catalog.

His book The Best of Me , collects 42 previously published stories and essays. Sedaris also wrote Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary, a collection of fables with illustrations by Ian Falconer. He is the editor of Children Playing Before a Statue of Hercules: An Anthology of Outstanding Stories. Since 2011, he can be heard annually on a series of live recordings on BBC Radio 4 entitled “Meet David Sedaris.”  In 2019 David Sedaris became a regular contributor to CBS Sunday Morning, and his Masterclass, David Sedaris Teaches Storytelling and Humor, was released.

There are over 16 million copies of his books in print and they have been translated into 32 languages. He has been awarded the Terry Southern Prize for Humor, Thurber Prize for American Humor, Jonathan Swift International Literature Prize for Satire and Humor, Time 2001 Humorist of the Year Award, as well as the Medal for Spoken Language from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In March 2019 he was elected as a member into the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 2020 the New York Public Library voted Me Talk Pretty One Day one of the 125 most important books of the last 125 years.
