Local Drum Fun!!! Have you ever wanted to beat a bongo or jiggle with a djembe? Then come join us for some community drumming fun for teens and adults! All percussion instruments are welcome and we do have a few extra drums on hand to provide for newbies. NVMS’s Summer Drum Circle Series Second Sunday of Every Month: June July August Free! Ages 13+ Sunday, June 11: Whitefish Community Center 5-6 pm Sunday, July 9: Whitefish City Beach 5-6 pm Sunday, Aug 13: Stillwater Landing 5-6 pm Our drum gatherings will be facilitated by Rusty Eklund, a son of the northwest who lived 25 years abroad including 11 years in West Africa studying music and culture. As a certified music teacher, he has been teaching at international schools and presenting drumming workshops across the globe. You can see more about him performing under the stage name Mango Joe at www.mangojoetrio.com These summer drumming events will get your rhythm hands and drumming desire ready for an upcoming series of African/Caribbean drum and song classes in the Fall of 2023.
