About Us

Governed by a Board of Directors, the Humane Society of Northwest Montana is a 501 (c)(3) private nonprofit organization that is home to the Charlotte Edkins Animal Adoption Center. Its mission is to provide a caring and safe environment for dogs & cats until they can be united with a forever home.

As a limited admission, no-kill animal adoption care facility, the Humane Society depends solely on the generosity of caring people for support. The Humane Society has no affiliation with national animal welfare groups and receives no government funding.

The Adoption Center is committed to rescuing & rehoming owner surrendered and orphaned cats & dogs while making sure that each is examined by a licensed Veterinarian, vaccinated, treated for parasites, spayed or neutered, microchipped and treated for any medical needs before adoption.

The Humane Society of Northwest Montana has successfully served the Flathead Valley community since opening its doors in 2004 and has been voted ''Best Nonprofit Group'' four times in the Daily Inter Lake's Best of the Flathead Reader's Poll, most recently in 2020.
