The Duke is Dead: The Shadows of Loch Lomond
Early 1800s, Scottish Highlands: Along the serene shores of Loch Lomond, the Duke of Lennox has summoned Europe’s most powerful nobles, scholars, and secret society members to his famed estate under the guise of “the grand ball of the season.” Behind the glamour, however, he is orchestrating a cunning trap.
The Duke claims to know the location of the legendary Sword of Attila — a sacred relic never meant to be wielded for power, yet believed to grant ultimate ruling authority to whoever possesses it. And he uses this rumor to manipulate every guest, drawing them into his meticulously plotted game of authority. Once a secret Templar guardian himself, the Duke has spent months fanning obsession with cryptic hints, staged meetings, and forged prophecy, hoping to expose the greed of others, destabilize the factions, and seize ultimate power for himself.
As the multi-day gathering unfolds, two ancient orders converge with competing agendas:
The Freemasons are hunting for the sword to secure the throne for their chosen heir, Princess Victoria. Young and naïve, she has stumbled upon a forged scroll she believes names her as the rightful heir — an illusion that fuels both her ambition and the Freemasons’ hopes of seeing her rise.
Meanwhile, The Knights Templar, long tasked with protecting the sword and preventing political chaos, have fractured over time due to internal conflict and divided motives, putting their centuries-old mission at risk.
Yet only one person truly knows the sword’s resting place: Madam Isla Strathmore, a former Templar archivist who uncovered the order’s corruption and broke away. Uninvited to the Duke’s affair, she watches from afar, eventually slipping into the elite gathering. She is intent on exposing both orders and ending their influence for good.
Each guest, however, arrives with quiet, calculating motives of their own, driven by ruthless ambition, insatiable greed, and hidden desire for power.
And just as the Duke prepares to make his final move to secure ultimate power, somebody silences him. In an estate brimming with schemes and deception, the Sword of Attila is the prize everyone seeks — and someone has already killed to get closer to it.
