In collaboration with the Whitefish Arts Council (WAC), the Whitefish Performing Arts Center (PAC), and the Whitefish Theatre Company (WTC), the 2022-2023 live streaming season of the Metropolitan Opera returns to Whitefish! La Traviata, the first of 10 live-on-screen performances, will be held at the O'Shaughnessy Center.
With its intimate scope, La Traviata (The Fallen Woman), sung in Italian, features Guiseppe Verdi’s most profound and heartfelt music. Described for us beginners as “Pretty Woman meets La Boheme”, the story follows a high-priced courtesan who is forced to give up the only man she ever loved. The opera has captured the imaginations of audiences and performers alike with its challenging vocal and dramatic possibilities.
Run time is 3 hours, including two 20-30 minute intermissions. The show begins at 10:55am sharp with doors to the O'Shaughnessy Center opening at 10:30am. Beverages, sandwiches and other food items will be available for purchase.
The opera will have subtitles. Take a chance on the wonderful world of opera this season and check out a show - or two - or ten!
