The Hockaday Museum of Art will hold its popular Benefit Auction of Miniatures on May 17, 2013. “Miniatures” is a celebrated and highly attended event that offers exceptional opportunity for art collectors and patrons. Proceeds from the auction benefit the Museum’s exhibition and education programs.
Artists are invited to apply by March 16 by downloading a form from www.hockadaymuseum.org, found under the “Artist Opportunities” tab. Artists that apply are invited to submit one 9” x 12” framed or a 3-dimensional piece of art during the week of April 17. The commission agreement on 9” x 12” work is 50% to the artist and 50% to the Hockaday. Artwork will be juried on April 22 by the Museum’s Exhibition Committee. The committee review will consider the artists’ mastery of media and technique, professional presentation and the overall success of the work.
Artists are also encouraged to create a 4” x 6” postcard-sized piece of art for the “Wall of Real Miniatures”. Postcard templates will be provided and the works are a 100% donation to the Museum.
All juried 9” x 12” work and postcard-sized pieces will be on exhibit at the Hockaday April 25 through May 17. Artwork will be sold via silent auction at the Hockaday on May 17 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Participating artists are invited to attend the auction at a substantially reduced ticket rate.
