Position Overview:
The Care Coordinator for the People in Need of Services (PINS) program will oversee and coordinate services designed to support individuals with unmet mental health needs, ensuring timely access to critical mental health services and interventions. This role involves collaboration with mental health professionals, community organizations, and stakeholders to improve the accessibility to and effectiveness of mental health and intervention services with the greater goal of reducing suicide and promoting mental well-being. The Care Coordinator will manage program operations and client referrals and ensure that services meet both quality standards and the needs of individuals experiencing mental unrest.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Coordination and Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the PINS program, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.
- Coordinate with mental health providers, hospitals, and community organizations to ensure seamless referrals and services for clients.
- Develop, implement, and maintain program protocols and procedures for intake, assessment, and referrals for individuals experiencing mental health issues.
- Monitor program outcomes and ensure adherence to evidence-based practices programmatically and clinically.
- Track and report on program metrics, including client engagement, service utilization, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.
- Client Support and Case Management:
- Conduct intake screenings to determine clients' immediate needs and refer to and/or fund appropriate services.
- Provide direct coordination of care for individuals, helping them navigate mental health services and assisting in removing any barriers to accessing them, including referrals, follow-ups, and emergency resources.
- Collaborate with crisis intervention teams to ensure that clients are supported after moments of acute need.
- Advocate for clients to ensure they receive the necessary services in a timely manner.
- Community Outreach and Education:
- Assist in developing and delivering training and educational materials about the PINS program for staff, community members, and stakeholders.
- Crisis Intervention and Safety Planning:
- Collaborate with clinical community partners to ensure that clients receive ongoing mental health support and follow-up care after an initial intervention.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including mental health professionals, law enforcement, and social services, to ensure an integrated and responsive service delivery.
- Create and facilitate multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss client cases, program developments, and challenges in service provision.
- Liaise with healthcare providers, social services, and crisis response teams to ensure continuity of care for clients.
- Program Evaluation and Reporting:
- Collect and analyze data to assess program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports on program progress, challenges, and outcomes for leadership, funders, and external stakeholders.
- Assist in program development, including the creation of new initiatives to enhance access to services for individuals at risk.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Education, Nursing/Medical or a related field (required).
- Master’s degree in a related field (preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years in mental health, education, crisis intervention, medical or social services.
- Experience with program management, including tracking outcomes and ensuring service delivery.
- Experience working with diverse populations and understanding cultural factors in suicide risk, mental health, and access to services.
- Skills:
- Conflict Resolution and Emotional Intelligence: This position requires the ability to remain calm and empathetic in tense situations, understand clients' needs and emotions, and effectively de-escalate conflicts to find mutually beneficial solutions.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and work collaboratively with individuals and teams.

- Certifications:
- Suicide prevention, Mental Health First Aid/Youth Mental Health First Aid, or crisis intervention training (e.g., ASIST, QPR, or other relevant certifications) preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Work Environment: This is a Kalispell-based position with Flathead County as the full-service area.
- Hours: 35-40 hours per week
- Compensation: Based on qualifications and experience; $52 - $58,000
