About Us
Gray Emery Grove - Traditional photography in slabs of wood with hand forged brackets. A confluence of western and modern, mountain and architecture. Silver grain, wood grain, and an artisan’s touch.
Reflection of the Soul
It wasn’t that long ago; a day, a week, a month, a year, a lifetime. Gravity holds us to time as it passes. Striving for what can be is often in reverence to what came before. The Earth spins and light finds a moment, and then the moment passes. I am a vessel to carry that moment, to hold it dear. The light fell, the silver grains captured, and I continue to struggle, to present and encapsulate the moments passing, and preserve it for the future. This is my responsibility, and my promise.
I grew up in the country, looking up at the mountains, riding in the hills. I listened as the coyotes sang their songs. I stood still as the wind moved the grassy meadows around me. I explored, just me, my dog, and my horse. I would turn over logs, skip rocks, and chase frogs. Finding, discovering, and searching. Photography became a reason to keep my wonder; to climb, to experience, to be. I look forward to the rays of light that will illuminate, and the moments and scenery that I have yet to experience.
Simple lines, the presence of the photograph encourages you to drift into; and the elements, thickness of the wood, and the organic feel of the brackets, keeps the art grounded in space. This is one of thirteen, but each piece is one of a kind. Every work is best felt in person.
