European-style roadhouse located 1 hour from Whitefish offering casually fine al fresco dining, catering and special events.

Surrounding a peaceful English-style garden, our Swan Lake MT Lodging offers simple, clean and comfortable non-smoking ground-floor rooms, each with private entrance, private bath, and complimentary WiFi. A delicious, hot complementary breakfast, including freshly brewed Montana Coffee Trader’s French Roast, pressed tea, and juice, is served each morning in the garden or library. No alarm clocks, TVs or phones in the rooms. Cell service is available thru wi-fi. The Horse is not recommended for infants who are not yet sleeping through the night. Well-behaved, non-smoking dogs and other pets are welcome – sorry we cannot accommodate elephants and the water feature is too small for hippopotami.


Dining out should not be a timed event. Here at the Horse, we embrace a relaxed dining sensibility, allowing you to dine at your pace without pushing to turn tables. We accept dining reservations every 15 minutes from 5pm to 8:00pm for parties of 1 to 6 persons with only 32 diners per evening. Your table is yours for the evening, no rush – unless you want to get back out on the lake to enjoy a Montana summer sunset and then we’ll meet your schedule! The dining room and dining garden are open Saturday, Sunday and Monday to the public. Private dining for groups of 12 or more is available Tuesday - Friday with a curated menu by Chef Kate. We recommend reservations be made at least one week in advance.
