About Us
Whitefish Community Foundation brings together donors and nonprofits to cultivate a passion for giving to improve the quality of life for everyone in the Flathead Valley. The Foundation was started 25 years ago by five founders who saw a need to help local nonprofits excel at their missions. Since 2000, the Foundation has granted over $85 million to champion health and education initiatives, address critical issues such as hunger and youth homelessness, and protect the Flathead's wildlife and surrounding landscapes. All of this is possible thanks to Whitefish Community Foundation's Circle of Giving, more than 4,000 individual donors, and $60M in managed charitable funds.
Whitefish Community Foundation plans and hosts the annual Great Fish Community Challenge to raise funds for Flathead Valley nonprofits. The Challenge has inspired more than $35 million in giving and provides the platform to build awareness about the nonprofit’s mission, connect them with hundreds of new donors, and raise critical operating funds.
Whitefish Community Foundation also provides expertise in helping donors meet their charitable goals. Our tax-efficient Donor Advised Funds, Permanent Endowment Funds, and Legacy Funds simplify giving and allow donors to support their favorite charities.
