What is Skijoring? Skijoring is a timed winter team sport in which a horse and rider pulls a skier at high speed on a racecourse with jumps, gates and rings the skier has to navigate. It is derived from a Norwegian word meaning "ski driving".
Over the past 10 years, this sport has exploded nationwide with races held almost every weekend throughout the winter. The majority of races are in Montana, Colorado, Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. Each race attracts hundreds of competitors and thousands of spectators!
Whitefish Skijoring is an exhilarating event bringing together the horse world and the ski world. It's our own Montana Extreme Winter games with drinks, food, fire, horses and skiers!
Everyone is invited to join the festivities which include 2 days of racing and a Calcutta auction, where you too can participate in the sport and win money by betting on and buying teams for Sunday’s race time payouts.
Whitefish Skijoring is a non-profit organization, and our event is possible solely through our gracious sponsors. We appreciate all businesses showing their support for this winter community event. We look forward to advertising your business and building a lasting relationship with you.
